Humorist Jean Shephard’s memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s follows Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the Christmas tree. All the warmly humorous elements from the book and movie are here, including the secret decoder ring, the school bully, the experiment with the wet tongue on a lamppost and, of course, the oddest shaped lamp in the history of the American family. This has become America’s favorite holiday show!
