“NUNSENSATIONS IS SENSATIONAL!”
--CBS news
“Creator Dan Googin has lifted the human spirit
and made millions laugh.”
--New York Times
“NUNSENSATIONS is the best NUNSENSE show of them
all. And you don’t have to be Catholic to love it. It would
be a sin to miss this one!”
--Sister Jeanne O’Laughlin, President Emeritus, Barry
University
Praise the Lord and pass the sequins!!
This-- the fifth in the successful NUNSENSE series-- takes
the sisters on a brand new adventure in Las Vegas. When a
parishioner volunteers to donate $10,000 to the sisters’
school if they will perform in a club in Las Vegas, Mother
Superior is hesitant to accept. However, after being
convinced by the other sisters that “what happens in Vegas,
stays in Vegas”, Reverend Mother agrees.
What follows is the most feather-filled, sequin-studded,
fan-dancing Nunsense show ever! Performing in “The Pump
Room” at the Mystique Motor Lodge, the sisters experience
“show-biz” like never before. You’ll meet Sin-City Sue, find
out who’s Black and White with Her Money on Red, and try to
win a new car with the “Holy Rollers Giant Slot Machine.”
Taking a line from another show, a critic pointed out, “It’s
a whole lot funny and a little bit naughty, but there ain’t
nothin’ dirty goin’ on!”
And we’ve got some glorious gals to ”in habit.” Cracking the
whip and poppin’ her hip is Pat Centuolo (Reverend Mother),
who last appeared in The Vagina Monologues here at TWH.
Second in command, and Mistress of Novices, Jennifer Roman
(Sister Hubert), who brings her experience from West Side
Story and Guys and Dolls, and recent New York roles. Heidi
Thompson (Sister Robert Anne), was a former gang member
before she joined the convent. Though repentant, you may
hear that occasional slip of language. Heidi tackled the
Mayor’s role in this summer’s All Shook Up.
If you had the chance to see Nuncrackers, the wonderful
Christmas show a few years back, you would have been touched
by Shelly Fountain (Sister Amensia), somewhat touched
herself. Shelly also appeared in Beehive and was an award-
winner for Always…Patsy Cline. Lori Engler (Sister Mary
Leo), rounds out the cast as the dancing doubter. You last
saw Lori as Annie in Chicago .
Lawrence Lesher directs this zany group, with costumer
Camille McClellen adding the usual Vegas glitz and glamour
to the habits. Lighting this flashy, daffy quintet is Ted
Smith ….whose lights have appeared in Cats and All Shook Up.
Virginia Zechiel plunks the piano keys and Kent Altman tries
to stage manage this wacky group with Roxanne Hartfield as
his assistant.
